Frequently asked questions
What services does Aavena offer?
Aavena provides consultation services for CFSS, Disability and Program Navigation, and Employment and Housing Support, helping participants access other DHS programs, prepare for employment, and connect with housing resources.
What is CFSS?
Community First Services and Supports (CFSS) is a Minnesota program that helps people with disabilities and chronic conditions live more independently. CFSS offers two service models: an agency model, where an agency manages workers, and a budget/employer model, where participants or families manage their own staff and budget.
What are CFSS Consultation Services?
CFSS Consultation Services are independent, conflict-free supports designed to help participants understand their options, make informed choices, and successfully manage their services. Aavena, Inc. provides education about CFSS, assistance with person-centered service plans, training on employer responsibilities, and ongoing support as participant needs change.
Who can receive CFSS Consultation Services?
Anyone eligible for CFSS can receive a consultation. Family members, caregivers, and natural supports may also participate in the consultation process to help ensure success with self-directed services.
What is the difference between a CFSS Consultant and a PCA provider?
A PCA provides hands-on daily care. A CFSS Consultant provides education, guidance, and planning support — not direct care. Our role is to help you design and manage your services, not to deliver them.
Can Aavena provide both consultation and direct CFSS services?
No. To remain conflict-free, CFSS Consultants cannot provide other CFSS services to the same participant. Aavena provides only independent consultation, ensuring our guidance is unbiased and solely focused on your goals.
